Samsung Galaxy Note 2 released in India

Amidst rumors of Samsung losing out the chance to build Google’s next Nexus device, the Korean company has launched the second edition of its own phablet, Galaxy Note II. The international launch had sparked fervent interest among Indians users. Relieving their curiosity and wait, the gadget hit the Indian markets today. For Samsung, Galaxy Note 2 could just be the redemption they need after the not so pleasant courtroom drama with plagiarism suit that was filed and won by Apple.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Key Specifications

Samsung Galaxy Note II belongs to that sophisticated class of Smartphones that have large screens and generous build without looking tacky. It has a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED HD (Non-Pentile) screen with an impressive resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It has a 8 MP rear facing camera. This could have been a little better with many Smartphones having primary cameras of 12 MP and such. It also has a secondary 1.9 MP camera for video conferencing. It will run on a powerful quad-core Exynos processor clocked at 1.6 GHz. With RAM of 2 GB and internal memory of 16 GB or 32 GB or 64 GB depending on the model, it is a great phone to store media. External memory can be extended to 32 GB using microSD card. It will have a 3,100 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Advanced S-Pen

S-Pen is quite synonymous with Galaxy Note; the pen-like input device is, in fact, what makes Note so versatile. With a rubber tip included in Galaxy Note II’s S-Pen, writing or drawing the device will feel more natural than ever. It will also have a number of third party apps from Autodesk, who are the creators of Sketchbook and Moleskin.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Air View

Along with that, Note II users will have ‘Air View’, which is quite a novelty. It will allow users to preview content of emails, gallery or video by hovering the S-Pen above the said applications.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Jelly Bean and Butter

Galaxy Note II will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but this is no stock Android OS at all. It will have a number of enhancements to customize the Android experience on the Smartphone. It will have smoother frame rate too with the incorporation of Project Butter. All of it will be packaged in Samsung’s own Touch-Wiz UX customization.

The device has been launched in India just after its international launch. For now, the price has been fixed at Rs. 39,900.
